10 Ways to Manage Everyday Stress

Stress is unavoidable. However, you can make it a goal to keep your daily stress levels low. When you are less stressed about trivial matters, you are better able to deal with larger challenges.

Stress is unavoidable. However, you can make it a goal to keep your daily stress levels low.

Here are five things you can do to improve your ability to manage daily stress.

10. Handle problems as they arise.

Don't ignore everyday problems, but don't overthink them either. Rather, figure out how to deal with them. If you're unsure what to do, seek assistance and advice from others.

9. Consume nutritious foods.

What you eat has an impact on your mood, energy level, and stress level. Choose health-promoting foods. You are not required to abstain from all treats. However, if sweets are your primary fuel source, you're more likely to crash or feel cranky — and stressed!

8. Get plenty of rest.

You might want to stay up late after a long day of school and activities. Maybe you still have homework to do. Or perhaps you want to spend time talking with friends or binge-watching your favorite show. Going to bed late, on the other hand, does not leave enough time for sleep when you have to get up early for school. You're more likely to be stressed about the day's ups and downs if you don't get enough sleep.

Stick to a consistent bedtime and wake time to avoid a stressful morning rush.

Turn off screens well before bedtime. Relax with quiet activities.

7. Work out every day.

Working out, playing a sport, or dancing to your favorite music relieves stress. Exercise does more than just keep you in shape. It helps you manage stress, reduce anxiety and depression, and improve your mood.

6. Take a deep breath.

Take some deep, slow belly breaths when you're stressed or overwhelmed. Belly breathing is a quick and effective way to switch off your body's fight-or-flight (stress) response. Every day, practice belly breathing or mindful breathing to help you reduce stress.

 5.   Maintain a healthy balance of work and play

. Make time to complete your tasks and achieve your goals (like schoolwork, chores, or practice). But make time for things you enjoy as well (like playing music, working out, playing with a pet, or spending time with friends). Even if it is only for a few minutes, taking time each day to relax and recharge reduces stress.

4.  Schedule your day.

To keep track of your daily schedule, use a calendar or a planning app. Fill in the blanks with your class times, tests, and assignment due dates. Include your activities. Schedule time to study for tests and complete assignments. Schedule time to do things you enjoy. Having a plan and a daily routine helps to reduce stress.

3.  Make use of the positive energy that stress provides.

Don't leave things until the last minute. That is far too stressful. And it's difficult to give your all when you're pressed for time. Instead, let stress motivate you to complete a task. If you have a deadline, give yourself a mental boost. "OK, I've got this — I'm on it," you think. Then go ahead and start working.

2. Stick to your strategy.

Of course, planning is useless if you don't carry it out. Make it a habit to check your planner every day. Check off what you've completed. Prepare for what's to come. Establish a study schedule. Keep track of your assignments. This reduces the daily stress of schoolwork.

1.  When you require assistance, ask for it.

Many people are stressed out by schoolwork, grades, and tests. Keeping track of everything isn't always easy. Ask a teacher, parent, tutor, or mentor to coach you if you need help preparing for tests, planning projects, or getting things done. If you have a habit of procrastinating, study or do homework with a classmate.
